P2P currencies — which local currencies the exchange supports for deposits/withdrawals via P2P. * Binance and OKX do not offer RUB P2P in Russia (Binance left in 2023, OKX removed RUB P2P, though trading still works) — RUB P2P is unavailable (works for hryvnia and tenge). Read →The right exchange depends on your goal. Here's what to look at first if you're in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or another CIS country.
The key thing for a CIS user is how to deposit local currency and withdraw it back. A P2P platform lets you buy USDT for rubles, hryvnia or tenge directly from other people via a bank card, SBP or Kaspi. The best P2P right now is Bybit (rubles, hryvnia, tenge) and OKX (hryvnia and tenge — OKX does not support rubles).
Spot fees on most exchanges are close (around 0.1%). If you trade often or in large volumes, the difference adds up. The lowest fees are on MEXC and Gate.io.
Choose exchanges with Proof of Reserves, a long track record and high trading volume. The largest and most liquid are Binance and Bybit.
A clear app and good support save time. The most beginner-friendly is Bybit.
Copy trading (Bitget), a built-in Web3 wallet (OKX), staking and a wide altcoin selection (MEXC, Gate.io) — choose based on your goals.
For a beginner in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or another CIS country, the best choice is Bybit: a simple interface, convenient P2P for depositing rubles, hryvnia and tenge, low fees and copy-trading support. The alternative for Ukraine and Kazakhstan is Binance (Binance is unavailable in Russia).
For rubles the best P2P is Bybit (Binance and OKX left the Russian market); for hryvnia and tenge — Bybit and OKX: high ad volume, many payment methods (bank cards, SBP, Kaspi) and a tight spread. The rate is worth comparing in real time as it changes throughout the day.
The lowest spot trading fees are on MEXC (often 0% maker via promos) and Gate.io. On futures the difference between top exchanges is small, averaging 0.02–0.06%.
Bybit, OKX, Bitget, MEXC, Gate.io, KuCoin and BingX are actively used across the CIS, including P2P for depositing and withdrawing local currency. Availability of specific features may differ by country — check the terms of the specific exchange.
Basic trading on most exchanges only requires an email. For P2P, higher withdrawal limits and fiat operations, identity verification (KYC) is usually required. MEXC and Gate.io have historically had lighter KYC requirements.
For trading and small amounts an exchange is convenient, but large holdings are safer in a personal wallet (hardware or non-custodial). Choose exchanges with Proof of Reserves and enable two-factor authentication.
For most CIS beginners the best start is Bybit. Registration takes 1 minute.
